Julia Williams is an interdisciplinary artist and model, emphasizing photography, graphic design, and film. She is currently based in Central Oregon and her work is largely commercial and editorial, focusing on portraits. In her conceptual work, Julia is influenced by many facets in her life, including personal identity, childhood, and strengthening women’s voices in art. Additionally, she is inspired by mother-daughter relationships and her Korean background. She graduated from Oregon State University Cascades with a Bachelor's in Science in the Arts, Media, and Technology department. Julia is actively working as a conceptual and editorial photographer, a freelance graphic designer, and a bi-coastal model
Artist’s Statement
As an interdisciplinary artist, I am trained in many types of art, but my love for photography will always outweigh the rest. My focus lies in portraiture and street photography, as well as engagements and elopements.
My style has developed from the abstract themes that I tend to gravitate toward, such as nostalgia, melancholy, and limerence. The result is candid, cinematic, and lifelike photography that tells a story. This also includes less editing and an overall more “real” feeling. I aim to capture both the editorial aspects of my work, as well as the more visceral and conceptual framework that reflects my experiences.
Diversity Statement
As an artist, but also a human being, it is of the utmost importance that every individual I work with feels respected and understood, regardless of their gender, race, age, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or socioeconomic status. My services will remain a space for anyone and everyone to express themselves.
